-THE REGGAE AMBASSADORS-
Celebrating 50 years, THIRD WORLD is one of the longest-lived Reggae bands of all time, and one of Jamaica's most consistently popular crossover acts among international audiences. Mixing in elements of R&B, funk, pop, and rock and, later on, dancehall and rap, Third World’s style has been described as "reggae-fusion". With 9 Grammy nominations and catalogue of charted smash hits, including (“Now That We Found Love”, ”96 Degrees in the Shade” and “Try Jah Love”) , spanning over four decades, sold-out tours, a vibrant and loyal fan base and inspirational messages, one may wonder, "Where did it all begin? What gives Third World the staying power so rare in the music industry?"
Reggae on the Lake is designed to bring life and love to Lake Anne and the Greater Reston Community. TERRA Gives Back is the non-profit subsidiary of TERRA Properties that organizes the festival which provides multiple avenues to fundraising for deserving local charities. Each year, TERRA will choose a carefully vetted charity to support with proceeds from the event. We hope to bring more life to the Plaza that we love living in and to the diverse Reston Community as a whole, which we are privileged to serve.
Reggae on the Lake was created and organized by Ramon Pardo, a Realtor® and co-owner of TERRA Properties. Ramon has been a resident of Lake Anne of Reston for over 25 years. After contracting Culture, an internationally known reggae band to perform at his wedding in Jamaica, he wanted to bring some of that “magic” to Lake Anne Plaza. “Reggae music is the perfect symbol for the world we strive to live in. One of peace, love and unity” he said in a statement about the festival.
